Not being a fan of things like pranks, I can’t find it in me to see the fun in April Fool’s Day. However, today a funny thought entered my head.
What if, April Fool’s Day is nothing more than a means to enable us who have grown too used to wearing our masks or are too afraid to show our true selves, to express our true thoughts and emotions? We say what we really think and feel before laughing it off a joke.
Though, if that were the case, it would be rather ironic no? Every day is a lie, except for April Fool’s Day. What is received as a joke, is a truth. What is received as the truth, is a lie.
We dedicate one day to fool people as though it isn’t something we are already doing all our lives. The image others have of us, the ideal image we have of ourselves. Different images of ourselves brought about by different individuals all forced together to become a messily put together self.
Is there really such a thing as an honest person?
Honestly though, April Fool’s is annoying especially when somewhat reliable news sources become unreliable.
