This week’s Song Lyric Sunday theme is difficult for a completely different reason from last week. There are too many songs that are centred around pain and suffering that it is honestly difficult to pick just one. In the end, I decided to go with “Swaying” sung by soraru.
Considering the fact that I just wrote a post about blaming oneself yesterday, I think it is honestly an appropriate song to show that one would only regret living content with their flaws and never stand up for what they desire.
“I wish I could become kind”
“I wish I could become strong”
“I wish I could become a fun person”
The song starts with a sincere wish to become a better, more sociable person. Yet, from what we can see from the music video, she had lived her life accepting her flaws and weaknesses and being content with the little she could get with her power and status. In the end, she kept it all inside her until she could not take it. While running away from your problems simply saying that they are not problems as long as no one sees it as one (ahem, sorry Hikigaya) may seem like the most convenient way out, it may make your life more difficult in the future. Despite the agony and suffering, one feels when the whole world seems to be against them. Despite how any effort to break free from society’s rules may seem pointless and impossible. That does not mean that we should sit back and not do anything. Especially if you are passionate about something.
Although, I must say it likely isn’t very convincing coming from the master of running away from problems and accepting everything with a smile. Someone who has smiled his way through everything because he believes and knows that he has lived a far more fortunate life as compared to many others. Someone who has reached a point where he doesn’t even have to make an effort to forget the past and views everything as unimportant and pointless…
What am I even writing now…
Anyways, living day by day like an empty shell till you grow sick of it all is not the way to go. You don’t want to end up like me after all.
No matter what I say though, there will always be those who are happy and those who are sad. Words cannot change anything. In the end, we are all but fellow humans bound by emotions. With each individual having their own perspectives and sentiments, it is impossible for words to have any or much effect. Different people accept different words. Different methods need to be used to motivate different people. In the end, there might even be people who simply cannot be motivated. Who knows really?
Anyways, I ended up rambling a lot more than usual today. Hopefully, you enjoyed the song at least. 🙂
Here’s another song that I just feel like sharing, based on all I’ve said in these past two posts you can probably tell why after listening to it and reading the lyrics.
